Earl Loxton, DCX Capital

Earle Loxton

Founder at DCX Capital

Earle is the proverbial serial entrepreneur and has been involved in a wide range of start-ups from pharmaceutical and engineering to insurance and derivative trading.

Notably, he was the founder of Essential Med, one of South Africa’s most innovative medical insurance companies. As a creative problem solver, together with a highly capable team, Earle has grown Essential Med into a significant competitor in the health insurance space. A majority stake in Essential Med was recently acquired by JSE Listed Afrocentric Health (Bonitas, Fedhealth)

Since stepping down as CEO, Earle has been pursuing his other passion – trading, immersing himself in the world of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and investing in the space from an early stage.

Together with business partner Michael Jordaan (ex FNB, now Rain and Bank Zero) they realised what the enormous potential of blockchain and cryptocurrencies would be, but also that it was impossible to predict which protocols would eventually prevail. Similar to the early days of the internet, it was hard to say which would be the eventual winners.

This ultimately drove him to start DCX Capital (Digital Currency Index) – a Crypto Assets index fund embodied by an Ethereum based (ERC20) digital token, representing bitcoin and the other 9 biggest cryptocurrencies, weighed by market cap.
